Dear CCFC Supporter:
Please see the advertisement below from McMaster University, relating to recruitment for an endowed Chair in ulcerative colitis research. This Chair in ulcerative colitis research has been facilitated in part by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, which was enabled to do so through the generosity of several major donors via a targeted major gift investment. More information will be forthcoming regarding the Chair position as recruitment proceeds for the inaugural Chair holder. An international recruitment process is now underway, and the advertisement will appear in major medical journals.
This is fantastic news for the Canadian – and international – inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) community. The “unmet” need for more colitis research is now being addressed. As you are possibly aware, endowed university Chairs represent multi-million dollar research commitments. The specific emphasis of this major research investment on ulcerative colitis research nicely complements CCFC’s GEM (Genetic, Environmental, and Microbial) Project, where the focus is on Crohn’s disease research. CCFC is committed to finding cures for, and improving the lives of, all persons affected by inflammatory bowel disease.
CCFC is extremely grateful to our major donors (who wish to remain anonymous at this time) who made this Chair in Ulcerative Colitis Research possible. We also take this opportunity to thank all CCFC supporters: it is through your tireless support that CCFC has established itself as a world leader in funding IBD research, and as a sought-after partner in brokering major research investments. Together, we have created a top-tier IBD research infrastructure in Canada, and are privileged to work with and fund world-class scientists, such as those at McMaster University.
Yours in health,
Kevin Glasgow, MD
Chief Executive Officer
Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada
