Local Volunteer Groups

Chapters, Chapters in Development and Affiliates are the local volunteer groups who work together with regional staff to lead CCFC activities at the grassroots level. These teams of dedicated volunteers are focused on raising funds to find the cure for IBD while raising the profile of IBD and providing much needed education to those affected by Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis as well as the general public.

In terms of raising funds, local volunteer groups meet regularly throughout the year to plan a variety of national events such as the June Heel ‘n’ Wheel-a-Thon and M&M Meat Shops Charity BBQ Day as well as some events that may be tailored to their own communities such as All that Glitters Galas, sports tournaments and dinners. Chapters may plan their activities as a group or alternatively special teams, or taskforces, may be formed to focus on one event.

At the same time, they also explore the different ways to provide education about IBD to those in the community through workshops, webinars and workplace/school presentations. Chapters are also committed to helping put IBD on the map and raising awareness through both media and participation in community events and activities.

The foundation of each Chapter lies in its team of volunteers and staff, and with strong leadership local Chapters are able to both enhance volunteers’ experiences and enjoyment of their participation in the Foundation. The CCFC volunteer program provides an excellent opportunity for groups to contribute to the mission while also providing fellowship and support to the members of the IBD community.
