Congratulations to our newest Chapter, Nanaimo, whose Chapter status was granted in September 2011 by the CCFC National Board of Directors.
Volunteers were honoured with Individual and Chapter Awards at our annual Congress on October 15th.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada (CCFC). Spearheaded by Albert and Marilyn Finkelstein, CCFC began as a group of volunteers, more specifically, parents of children with IBD. With a tremendous passion and commitment, their work led to the creation of a national charity, which is proud to be the Number One funder of IBD research in Canada. We are all part of the Finkelsteins’ dream - to leave the cures for IBD as a legacy for the next generation.
We at CCFC know that we cannot find the cure without the passion, generosity and commitment of our volunteers. Volunteers bring not only their spirit, but their strong connection to local communities across the country and the unique ability to connect with others by sharing their personal stories, experiences and strength. With 1 in 160 Canadians is living with IBD, everyone is affected whether it is themselves, a family member, friend or colleague whose life is altered by Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
Through participation in local Chapter activities such as planning meetings, fundraising events and education and awareness activities, volunteering with CCFC offers individuals and families the opportunity to form unique networks with others who are sharing similar experiences, challenges and discoveries. As a national organization, this extends to both those within their local community and to other CCFC supporters from across the country. Through these networks, volunteers are able to contribute towards the mission while also benefitting from the support, fellowship and connection to others affected by IBD.
Help find the cure and make a difference by joining our team.
