News & Events

Thank you to All HnW Participants!

CCFC would like to sincerely thank all of our 2010 Heel’n’Wheel-a-Thon participants, donors, volunteers and sponsors for yet another exciting season of successful events across Ontario.

Through YOUR outstanding and dedicated efforts, the Ontario Region raised over $960,000!!!  This money allows us to continue to fund major medical research projects, as the demand for IBD research grants continues to grow.

Please join us again in 2011 with your family and friends – together, we will find the cure!  Thanks again for your generous support.

GEM Project
The GEM Project is a Canada-wide research study that will attempt to determine possible causes for Crohn's Disease by following healthy individuals who are at a higher risk for developing the disease over time. A total of 5,000 healthy individuals who have a sibling and/or parent with Crohn's Disease will join the effort to help find a cause. This is the first study of its kind to try and understand the complex genetic, environmental and microbial interactions within our own bodies.

If you have a full-sibling or parent that suffers from Crohn's Disease and are between the ages of 6 and 35, we invite you to participate. There are many recruitment centres in Canada, including:

Powered By Community

Beginning June 16, 2008, CCFC volunteers Greg Mailloux and Vin Heney biked from Victoria, BC to St. John's, Newfoundland.  Meeting with different CCFC chapters along the way and involving as many communities as possible with a mission is to raise funds for research and to promote healthy lifestyles.  Their experience was documented and made into a film that is now available on DVD, for further information, visit their website at www.poweredbycommunity.org.

Thank You

Volunteers and Fundraisers
We extend our sincere thanks to all volunteer groups who organize fundraisers throughout the region.  Our sincere appreciation goes out to our many sponsors who support our efforts to raise funds for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada. Thank you!

Remember that your donation in United Way campaigns can be directed to CCFC.
