WELCOME It is SUMMER!! Although it is only the first few days of summer, if the rain stops and the winds stops, it will be great.. We extend a warm welcome to members and volunteers in the Alberta/NWT/Nunuvat CCFC Region. While we don't believe this weather, we do believe in working together to find a cure and we believe that we will find a cure. Our best hope is through research and we devote our energies to raising increasing funds for medical research. Thank you to our volunteers who envisage a world without Crohn's and ulcerative colitis. THANK YOU SO MUCH
All funds raised at the M&M Meat Shops Charity Barbecue ARE used for medical research. Just think of the medical research that will be accomplished with 1.6 million dollars! University of Alberta receives funds for research from CCFC. It makes a difference in knowledge of IBD and, in turn, care you receive.
When you shop at M & M Meat Shops, please introduce yourself and please thank them for supporting CCFC. Think about getting a Max Card as it does save you money!

The GEM Project is a Canada-wide research study that will attempt to determine possible causes for Crohn's Disease by following healthy individuals who are at a higher risk for developing the disease over time. A total of 5,000 healthy individuals who have a sibling and/or parent with Crohn's Disease will join the effort to help find a cause. This is the first study of its kind to try and understand the complex genetic, environmental and microbial interactions within our own bodies.
If you have a full-sibling or parent that suffers from Crohn's Disease and are between the ages of 6 and 35, we invite you to participate. There are many recruitment centres in Canada, including:

We express our sincere appreciation to Alberta Culture for its support with the Community Spirit Program for Edmonton and Calgary. It enables CCFC in our communities of Alberta to reach out to those with IBD of diverse ethnic groups to bring more awareness of inflammatory bowel disease.
We extend our sincere thanks to all volunteer groups who organize
fund raisers throughout the region.
