Endowment Gifts

Endowments are sometimes referred to as Everlasting Gifts; they are an ideal way to leave a lasting legacy to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada (CCFC) to support our mission of finding a cure for IBD and at the same time commemorate or memorialize yourself or a loved one.  Simply put, “to endow” means “to create an income” for someone or something. Endowments gifts remain intact and only the earned interest is used by the CCFC

Advantages of making an Endowment Gift
Endowment funds offer many advantages. They are attractive for donors who want their gifts to have an impact in perpetuity.  Endowment income – the interest or dividends from principal or capital, or realized capital gains – ensures a flow of grant funding year to year and thus enables long-term planning for grant making, financial stability and successful functioning.

Also, the capital can be increased at any time by additional donation from the donor, family or friends.

And, gifts established as endowments are eligible for charitable tax receipts.

How to set up an Endowment
A donor or group of donors make a large donation to the CCFC, which is then invested in perpetuity. The income generated by the capital is used by the Foundation, while the capital remains protected and continues to generate additional income over the years.
